The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia - I am ashamed to report that the New York State's Legislature's Senate body has rejected, in a vote that never should have had to be held, acknowledging legally the same-sex marriage equality concept. Although Governor Patterson tried to help pass the issue into law, he wasn't effective enough.
